The moon will appear especially large tonight, an event referred to as a “super moon.”

“Tonight, not only will the moon be full – it is also at the closest point [in its orbit] to the earth,” Dr. Yigal Pat-El, head of the star observatory in Givatayim, told IDF Radio.

“Its distance from Earth moves from 357,000 km. to 410,000 km.,” he said.

The moon will appear 15% larger than it does on average.
