The IDF will open some of its live-fire ranges in the Merkaz and south to visitors during Hanukkah.

Training exercises will continue as usual, often using live fire, during the holiday. As such, all visits will require prior coordination and written permission. The IDF says that any unauthorized entrance will be illegal and endanger the lives of the tourists.

A military spokesperson asks to emphasize that all civilians are still forbidden from crossing fences and entering areas with “no entry” signs. Many of these areas are mine fields. The areas are surrounded with barbed wire and have yellow warning signs. Some mines can also move due to rain and other causes.

“The public must pay attention to security warnings and avoid entering training fields, minefields, and other forbidden areas across Israel, for any reason,” says the spokesperson.
