Maj.-Gen. (res.) Yoav Galant denied on Sunday reports that he will be placed in the 11th spot in Likud’s list for the Knesset – one of two spots to which Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has the prerogative to appoint people of his choosing.
Galant was a candidate for chief of staff in 2010 but was knocked out of the running because of allegations of improperly annexing land next to his home.
On Sunday morning, media personality Judy Nir Moses, who is married to Likud Minister Silvan Shalom, wrote on Twitter that Galant had decided to join Likud, after looking into the possibility of joining Yisrael Beytenu or Moshe Kahlon’s Kulanu.
However, Galant told Channel 2 Online News that these are “all lies, all talk. No one even talked to me about this subject. The connection between this and reality does not exist.”
According to Globes, former Israeli Ambassador to the US, Michael Oren, will join Kulanu.
