Four injured in axe attack in Germany

Four people were injured on Monday night in an axe attack inside a passenger train near the city of Würzburg in the German state of Bavaria.

The attacker was shot dead by police after the attack, according to Sky News.

Three of the victims are in a serious condition, a police spokesman told Sky News. Another 14 people are being treated for shock.

Bavarian interior minister Joachim Herrmann was quoted as having told German media the attacker was a 17-year-old refugee from Afghanistan who had living in the Bavarian told of Ochsenfurt.

There no immediate word on a possible motive for the attack.
