Jewish Home Chairman Naftali Bennett met on Thursday afternoon with Housing Minister Uri Ariel, who heads the National Union/Tekumah faction of the Jewish Home party.

Bennett’s office said that the meeting was conducted in a good atmosphere and that the two agreed to continue talks in the coming days.

Ariel and Jewish Home chairman Naftali Bennett have been at odds in recent days over the composition of the running list for the next elections.

Bennett has proposed that in order to merge the Jewish Home and the Tekuma lists, all members will compete in the primaries, while Ariel has counter-proposed to add members of Tekuma to the list.

The meeting came a day after Arutz Sheva reported that Ariel and MK Eli Yishai (Shas) were considering establishing a joint party. Neither Yishai nor Ariel would confirm the report, and Ariel’s office responded by saying that the Housing Minister was committed to preserving the unity in the Jewish Home.
