Negotiations are continuing between Naftali Bennett and Uri Ariel in efforts to ensure that Tekuma does not split off from Jewish Home. Under the latest offer, Uri Ariel will be the number two MK on the Jewish Home list, and will be tapped for a senior ministry if the party participates in the next government.
In addition to the second spot, Tekuma will also receive four out of the first 20 spots on the list, all considered “realistic” for the party’s prospects in the upcoming elections. According to polls, Jewish Home is expected to get between 16 and 20 seats in the next election.
The ninth slot will be reserved for a representative of the Regavim organization. Orit Struk of Tekuma will be placed in the 15th slot, and number 18 will be MK Zvulun Calfa.
A new poll by Haaretz Wednesday shows Jewish Home with 16 seats, the second highest number of seats behind the Likud and Labor, which are tied at 21 seats. Following Jewish Home is Kulanu, with 12 seats, Yesh Atid with 11, United Torah Judaism and Yisrael Beytenu with 8 each, and Meretz with 6. Both Shas and the new party declared by Eli Yishai are hovering between 3 and 4 seats – which means that neither may garner the minimum number of votes needed to enter the Knesset at all.
