Hillary Clinton’s campaign on Friday afternoon reacted to Donald Trump’s announcement of his running mate, Indiana Governor Mike Pence, calling it the “most extreme VP pick in a generation.”

“By picking Mike Pence as his running mate, Donald Trump has doubled down on some of his most disturbing beliefs by choosing an incredibly divisive and unpopular running mate known for supporting discriminatory politics and failed economic policies that favor millionaires and corporations over working families,” Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta said in a statement quoted by The Washington Times.

A Clinton campaign video released moments after Trump tweeted his choice said the Trump-Pence ticket was “building a great, big, beautiful wall between America and progress.

Trump had made the announcement about picking Pence as his running mate on his Twitter account earlier Friday.

He added that a press conference would take place Saturday, at which the VP pick would be formally announced.

Trump had originally planned to hold the press conference Friday, but postponed it due to the deadly terrorist attack in Nice, France.
